Jackie – The Companion Who Stayed
When Jackie came into my life in 2018, I never imagined how deeply she would become a part of it.
At first, she was simply a new companion—four paws, a wagging tail, and a curious little personality. But somewhere along the way, she became so much more. She became the one who was there on the quiet mornings, the difficult days, and the moments when all I needed was someone beside me.
There was something comforting about seeing Jackie stretched out on the couch, completely at home. Her favorite toy might be left on the floor nearby, forgotten after another afternoon of play. The room didn’t need to be perfect. If Jackie was there, somehow it felt like home.
Years passed, and life changed, but Jackie remained a constant.
She never needed words to remind me that I mattered. She simply stayed. She listened without judgment, loved without conditions, and gave the kind of companionship that can never truly be replaced.
Now the couch feels a little emptier. The toy on the floor carries memories instead of play. And there are moments when I still expect to see her resting in her favorite place.
But love doesn’t disappear when a life ends.
Every photograph, every familiar corner, every quiet moment will carry a little piece of Jackie. And when I think back on the years since 2018, I won’t remember only the day I had to say goodbye.
I’ll remember all the days she stayed.
Jackie may have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but she left her pawprints on a heart that will carry her forever.
